What is involved in home styling?
The Styling Edge starts the Home Styling process with a consultation that provides an objective look at your house. We tour the house and make detailed suggestions on what changes or repairs may need to be made. We also discuss timeline, budget, and priorities with you. Once a strategy is agreed upon, we begin transforming your home. Trades can be brought in to quote on work that needs to be done if required; we assess the furniture, artwork and accessories that are available to us and do the necessary shopping; and in a very short period of time, your house is made ready for the real estate market.
Can I live in my house while it is styled?
We have found that to keep your home looking its best and to ensure that our furniture and homewares are kept in the best condition, it is best to not live in your home for the duration of hire. Our clients find this much easier so that they aren’t having to put everything back in its place for open homes. If you will need to remain in the property we will work with you to ensure the house is looking fantastic at realestate open homes.
Does Styling Edge own their own furniture?
We sure do! All of the furniture you see is owned by us. We do not sub hire from larger rental companies. All of our looks are curated by our stylists and designed with your home in mind. We make sure that our furniture is on trend and appeals to your buyer.
Should empty houses be styled?
Yes, because it is hard for buyers to get a sense of the space without furniture in it. Without furniture the focus goes to negative details such as odd-shaped rooms, lack of architectural detail, or inadequate size. Furthermore, empty spaces tend to feel cold and uninviting. With property styling, we can create a warm inviting home that buyers can start to imagine living in.
Should every house be styled?
Yes we think so! How you decorate your home to live in and how you decorate it to sell are very different. The decorating choices you make for your home may suit your taste and lifestyle but they may not suit those of a wide range of potential buyers and may not show off your home’s best attributes. When you make the decision to sell your home you must begin the process of detaching yourself from it. Even the most beautiful home needs to be de-personalised so potential buyers can imagine themselves living in it. Your home is now a commodity to be sold and it must appeal to a broad audience of potential buyers.
Homebuyers are typically looking for bright, clean, spacious homes with great flow. Many buyers have difficulty picturing themselves and their belongings in a home if it is cluttered and has outdated decor. The Styling Edge can make the small changes that can have the biggest impact. Cleaning, de-cluttering, de-personalising, organising, and some repositioning of furniture is needed in every home, and these adjustments can have an enormous effect on how the house is viewed.

How long does it take to style a home?
Our property styling installation takes between 4 and 6 hours
What return can I expect on my investment in home Styling?
Your home is your greatest investment so you want to make sure that it is in the best possible condition before putting it on the market. Our goal is to ensure that your house sells quickly rather than lingering on the market. Homes that sell in the first month get the best offer, so when we get your home sold quickly then you will get the highest offer(s) possible. The cost of home styling is often less than the first price reduction on an un-staged home. You may also want to consider the emotional toll of a house lingering on the market, the stress of your house not selling at all or eventually selling for less; and the strain of keeping your house in immaculate shape for multiple showings and Open Houses. The stress reduction alone can make Home Staging well worth it.
Can I use some of my own furniture?
Unless the furniture piece fits in with the design and is the optimum piece for the property, for maximum impact we request removal of all furniture.
How can I find time to carry out your suggestions, or be actively involved? I have a busy life.
Preparing a house for the real estate market is different for everyone. Some people love to be involved in the home staging process while others prefer to go on holiday during the work phase. You can have as little or as much involvement as you like. We understand that when you have a full schedule, the whole process can seem overwhelming. It is our mission to make the transition as seamless as possible for our clients. We take care of it so that you don’t have to!
What are your payment terms?
The styling edge requires payment in full cleared before your installation. A 20% deposit is required to confirm your booking. We have credit card facilities available for payment however this does attract a small fee.
What if my house is already on the market but is not selling?
We are familiar with such cases and it’s not too late to call us for a consultation. The Styling Edge can help you organise a strategy to get your house sold quickly!
Does The Styling Edge guarantee their work?
We can’t guarantee that your home will sell within a week, but we will advise you on what needs to be done to transform your house into the best possible product for sale.
In many cases, our clients enjoy the changes to their home so much that they purchase various styling items we have used to decorate their new home. We are stockists for some leading quality furniture and home wares suppliers and are able to provide a permanent solution that can move with you to your next home as well.
How long is the average hire campaign?
Our average campaign period is 4 weeks + 2 weeks free. This means you have extra time for real estate photography and advertising. Need more time? Just let us know and we may be able to accommodate
How does The Styling Edge choose furniture for a property?
We will do a walk through of your property (this will take approx. 15 minutes). Once we get back to the studio we will review the video footage taken and will put together a concept for your home. We then obsess about it for a long as we possible can … live and breath your house and then boom! We make our final selections and then start packing. Everything we choose is with your potential buyers in mind.
Can I just hire a few pieces from The Styling Edge?
Unfortunately not, as we need as much stock to choose from for our complete property styling projects. We do have partial styling available but we do have a minimum spend and this is sometimes unavailable in the busy periods.
How long before I sell my property should I engage The Styling Edge?
The more notice you give us, the better the result!! 2 weeks is fantastic and 3 weeks is even better! But in saying that we are pretty great on our feet and can deliver in a matter of days. Because we are boutique we are based on quality and not volume, so get in and secure your spot before someone else does. We book out very fast!
What areas do you service?
We service all of Sydney and some surrounding areas like the South coast.
Is home styling and home staging the same thing?
The short answer is yes.. The only difference is how your stylist interprets this. We like detail… our homes don’t feel staged. We want them to feel as real as possible without the clutter and mess that is life.
When does my hire period start?
From the day we install.
What happens if at the end of the hire period my property hasn’t sold?
It’s rare… but can happen. If it does we will get in contact and give you a few options. Extend your hire weekly, extend more long term, or maybe just come and pick it up. After all, you will still have your professional photos for advertising.
What are the hire extension terms?
We are pretty flexible. You can choose week to week hire or maybe fortnightly or monthly hire. Just chat to us about your options.
Do I need to look after the plants that you have used for styling?
We love it when you do but understand that this isn’t always possible. Sometimes its easiest for your agent to give them a quick water. If we have key access and are close by we are always happy to pop in and give them a water top up. Self watering pots make life a little easier though and we use them when we can to save you the hassle.
How should I prepare the property for open days?
If you aren’t living in the property then it should be perfect and ready to go for open days. But… sometimes potential buyers like to test a home. And we mean test everything. For example jumping on the beds and laying on the lounge. So cushions might get a little messy. We can come out on a Friday to touch up the property if needed. Just contact us for pricing.

We work with so many agents but definitely have our favourites. Just ask us for a recommendation.

Very carefully and by professionals. We are stylists, not removalists. That’s why we employ an amazing team to move our furniture.
